If things feel heavier than tired

Crying, exhaustion and feeling overwhelmed are common after a birth. But if low mood lasts beyond the first couple of weeks, if you cannot enjoy anything at all, if you feel disconnected from your baby, or if your own thoughts are frightening you, please speak to your doctor or midwife today. This is common, it is treatable, and asking is not a failure.

If you or your baby are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency service now.

Where this comes from

This comes from what I have seen in the first fortnight after a birth, in more than one house. It describes a common experience. It does not diagnose anything, and it is not a substitute for speaking to your doctor or midwife.
